Forbes magazine has chosen Portugal as one of the 10 "cheapest" places to live, particularly for US citizens. Affordable living costs and the ease of obtaining residence visas has put Portugal in the sights of North American citizens.

A study carried out by the Institute of Behavioral Technology (INTEC) gave the Municipality of Lagoa the best score in the areas of Tourism; Welfare; and Safety, Diversity and Tolerance.

Braga, Algarve and Azores are among the top 20 European destinations for North Americans to live, invest and work, according to criteria such as quality of life and health system. The selection of Best European Destinations was released by the US magazine Forbes and was based on “several criteria, including the existence of an international schools, quality of life, the health system, internet connection, proximity to airports with international flights, cost of living, active foreign community and a low crime rate”.

For non-Portuguese people, sometimes understanding the Portuguese can be a little tricky, but usually people fall in love with Portuguese hospitality and culture.
